Competence & Conduct Standard
The Competence & Conduct Standard
The Competence & Conduct Standard places a clear responsibility on social housing organisations to ensure their staff have the knowledge, skills and behaviours to deliver safe, fair and customer-focused services. It’s no longer enough to rely on experience alone; you must be able to evidence competence through recognised qualifications and ongoing development.
What does it mean in practice?
- Identify which roles need which level of qualification.
- Ensure a significant proportion of relevant staff are enrolled on appropriate programmes by the regulator’s October milestone.
- Ensure all relevant staff are appropriately qualified within an agreed three-year period.
- Provide ongoing support, supervision and development to maintain standards of competence and conduct.
